MATCH REPORT: ENFIELD 3-1 BUCKHURST HILL

E’s remain top following comeback win over Buckhurst Hill

Enfield maintained their lead at the top of the Essex Senior League after coming from behind to defeat Buckhurst Hill 3-1. Suley Zuhdu scored from the penalty spot in the first half to give the visitors the lead. However, after the restart, Reece Conway levelled for the E’s before substitutes Dwade James and Jeffrey Cobblah secured the win.

The away side came close to taking an early lead after Ted Buchanan’s corner almost found the back of the net, but his effort was just wide. Meanwhile, on seven minutes, the E’s threatened for the first time. Ibrahim Kehinde’s cross was met by the head of Danny Norton, whose header was tipped over by ‘keeper Daniel Blackley.

However, with 15 minutes gone, Buckhurst Hill were awardeda penalty after Tyler Dolan was adjudged to have been brought down by Jarvis Monk. Zuhdu stepped up and converted from 12 yards to give the visitors the lead.

As the first half progressed, Enfield went in search of an equaliser, but Jack Grosvenor could only head over from Gavin Cockman’s throw-in. Not long later, Aaron Greene slid the ball into Kehinde’s path though his shot was blocked. The E’s struggled to break down a stubborn Buckhurst defence and were behind going in at the break.

However, five minutes after the restart, Enfield drew themselves level. Tyler Corlett’s first time cross was put into the middle before the captain Reece Conway was there to prod home from close range. The hosts nearly took the lead just shy of the hour mark, but Norton’s ambitious effort was put just over the bar.

Dwade James was brought on for the home side with 20 minutes to go and made the instant impact by putting the E’s in front with his first touch of the ball. Kieran Bishop played the ball down the line to Cockman, whose cross was headed home by the striker at the nearpost.

Buckhurst Hill’s task of getting back into the game was dealt a huge blow on 79 minutes after they were reduced to ten men. Goalscorer Zuhdu was shown a second yellow card following a late challenge on Corlett.

Enfield capitalised on the man advantage and added a third with eight minutes to go. Conway played a sublime through ball into the path of Jeffrey Cobblah, who shrugged off the Buckhurst defence before slotting home to wrap up the points.The win means the E’s stay two points clear at the topfollowing their eighth win from nine.
